Q-Anon is a right-wing conspiracy movement. People in Q-Anon believe that there is a deep-state cabal run by global elites, most of them being democratic political leaders. In this cabal, there are satanic rituals that ensure the Democrats will have control over the America. Q-Anon believers think that there are satanic, pedophilic, and cannibalistic rituals these elites perform. Q-Anon followers do not trust the media, they believe that everyone in the public eye is manipulating them or being lied to. They believe the dark state involves child abuse and sex trafficking. Q-Anon burst in with popularity during the 2020 pandemic. During covid people were living in fear at home, and were absorbed into the Q-Anon conspiracy through social media algorithms and Q-Anon’s hooking tactics. Now, a quarter of Republicans believe in the Q-Anon conspiracy theory and this number has been growing with the spread of the theory on social media and in the news. Many Q-Anon beliefs are somewhat vague, likely because of their implausibility. There are rarely specifics given regarding the elitist sex trafficking ring and if there are specifics, they tend to change once one has been proven wrong. Regardless, people still follow Q-Anon religiously, staying loyal to the theories.

Supporters of Q-Anon believe that there is “Q”. Q is almost god-like to them. Q first appeared on “4Chan” an online bulletin and initially posted about Hillary Clinton being a part of the deep state. Since then, Q has lived as an online account, being the leader of Q-Anon. Supporters do not know who Q is but always listen to it. Q was the original creator of many of the crazy ideologies of Q-Anon.
